• Hi Sara, yes, you can. You can attach an external microphone, such as the ECMW1M, to the Multi Interface shoe or plug in the ECMAW4 to the mic jack of the camcorder. Thanks_Mitch

• Yes, but in order to attach the mic to the camera directly, you have to purchase an adapter.

• I am new at this but yes, there are lots of mic options including wireless ones, but what I have learned so far is wired miss will almost always out perform wireless ones in quality. Wireless mics range in price and capabilities and may be found on video and pro audio solution provider websites. Out of respect for Bestbuy I won't post the url here but run a search for a Low to High Impedance Matching Transformer and read the reviews of various lavalier microphone to find the one that meets your needs. Make sure they are compatible and you're on your way.
