Because they're not truly over the ear unless you have tiny little ears. It's worth it to spend the money on a truly over the ear headphone when you want noise cancellation.

Please try again later.IMO it's because a lot of the over-ear headphones actually go totally over your ears, i.e., over your ear, plus another half-inch or so border all the way around. These don't -- they just cover your ears. I was worried about what that could do for the noise-canceling and sound, but had no prob and saw (heard?) no shortfall in either area. Hope that helps,
