Will the American PS5 work in the Uk? null

As far as I know they aren’t region locked but the thing that would be different would be the power cable cause in the USA has a different power cable than one used in Europe aka UK but it would be simple to get a cable or an adapter but that’s the only thing different that I know

As long as you have the right plugins then yes it should work just fine.
