In some cases the malfunction happened within hours of the first use. I was wondering if Best Buy or Sony offers any type of warranty with the refurbished products.”

In most cases, refurbished items will include a 90-day factory warranty. Warranty periods vary from product to product though, so make sure to click on the "Product Specifications" tab for full details.
