  • QuestionWhat does a blinking red light mean? The sub has stopped working

    • Answer I finally tore into my subwoofer to find out what the problem is. It started with just intermittent connection issues, flashing red like yours, eventually escalating to powering off at random. Odds are, if you can't reconnect reliably, your speaker itself is going bad. The only visible sign of an issue mine had were brown singe marks on the negative speaker terminal, which was poorly connected to the wiring (it simply fell off the terminal with no effort when I pulled the speaker to check it.) Quality control seems to be poor on this subwoofer, since both of the ones I ordered suffered the exact same failure, and you can't self service it without voiding the warranty, because the front panel is glued on. Included pictures of the internals, and the subwoofer speaker terminal that seems to be the issue. Tossed mine in the trash after identifying the problem, as I clearly wont get any refund after tearing it down like this, but I needed to know what was the issue.

If you're looking for a Sony subwoofer that is compatible with your Sony STRDH590 receiver, I'd recommend checking out the SACS9 subwoofer. Hope this helps!     • Answer I doubt it, it’s meant to be paired to the HT-A lineup of sound bars. Example, I gave mine connected to the Sony HT-A5000 soundbar.

  • QuestionHave a Sony Bravia 75 X95J TV. With A5000 soundbar and added SA SW3 subwoofer. Connected easily but so far very underwhelmed by subwoofer performance. It’s at its maximum volume. Not looking for chest thumping effects but this is ridiculous. Help/ideas?

    • Answer I would highly recommend the rear speakers SA-RS3S it makes a big difference in the quality of sound coming from all your speakers and do the spatial mapping again to make sure everything is in sync

  • QuestionMy speaker turns off on its own and now it powered off and won’t power back up

    • Answer Complete waste of time. I have the same issue, the sub does not power on. I went through the process of contacting Sony at customer service. 1-800-634-8606. The lady (Karla) said that since my sub is 7 months out of warranty she could only give me their consumer repair services number. I called the number and talked to another lady (Heather). Heather said that they only repair products under warranty. Heather also said that I could send my sub to them at my expense and they would dispose of it for me. I haven't been able to find parts for this sub, or anyone that will repair the sub. At this point the sub is a brick. I have been using Samsung electronics TV, etc... I was in the process of switching over to Sony... I had purchased the Sony SA-SW3 Wireless Subwoofer, HT-A5000 soundbar, and the Sony SA-RS3S 100W Wireless Rear Speakers. I was planning to purchase the Sony OLED 55 inch BRAVIA XR A80L TV. I will definitely have to rethink the idea of moving over from Samsung to sony.
