to put it simply the i3 380Processor is faster but consumes more Battery power than the i3-2310m as is seen in this Laptop. if you are comparing CPU Architectures the Sandy Bridge (i3-2310M) is better than the Arrandale ( i3-380M) but you have 2 different speeds 2.1GHz vs. 2.53GHz It all comes down to what you are doing with the system. this chip ( i3-2310m ) in the VPCEH14FM/B will give you a longer battery life for slightly less speed. If you plan on taxing out the system with high graphic rendering you will need all the speed you can get and battery life isn't important at that point.
