The SSD isn't used for storage, specifically. As you use your computer more and more, the HDD will figure out which applications you laod most frequently and will store those applications, documents, songs, etc. in the SSD for faster access. Windows itself is stored on the HDD part of the drive and is loaded accordingly. That's why the drive isn't as fast as a true SSD but is faster than a standard HDD.
