yes, it cuts the noise. but they will work even better if you pump additional white noise through as you use them

I used some relatively high-end Sony, corded noise-cancelling headphones a few years ago when I was flying back & forth across the pond quite frequently, and didn't find the noise-cancellation to be very effective, meaning when I turned it off and on, I heard very little difference on any background noise being cancelled out. Maybe that had something to do with the sound of the jet-engines and other cabin noises, I don't know. From my brief look at all these reviews, it looks like the commenters, think the noise-cancellation is good vs bad at about a 3:1 ratio, but this is a eye-of-the-beholder type of rating. My suggestion is to play some kind of mood-music on a loop in the background: ie Mozart-for-Babies, Rainstorm/Surf, or my fav= "3 hours of Deep Sleep Frequency Relaxing Music Meditation Music". Hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not perfect silence, but these get most of it. You will of course hear loud noises (I was in a co-working space that had some renovation work going on and heard a fair amount of it). All in all, I like these headphones though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, but not that well...work best with music.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. These will work fine without having anything playing, though the battery saver may kick in... You should be aware that these will make most noises quieter but won't take away all sound. Active noise cancelling on this headset seems aimed mainly at low frequency noise (air conditioner and road noise). Nowhere near as good for speech. Being an "around the ear" design, they *do* provide a significant amount of isolation, even turned off. And it *does* make the office I work in quieter... Good Luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, these headphones do have active noise cancelling feature.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.when I am at work it works good and keeps out the nose of the stuff going on.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was still able to hear my surroundings, but the noise was minimal. If you don't want to hear at all, these might not be for you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not found them to be noise cancelling as I can hear my phone ring when I use them.
