“What does 'on ear' mean? I wear hearing aides that fit behind my ear. Will these fit without pressing hard against the. upper ear where say, an industrial piercing would be?”

It means that they go over your ears not in them like ear buds.depending on how big your ear is, it might not cover them. I wear glasses so after some time the top of my ears do hurt from the headphone pressing my ear against my glasses
