“How are the LG 42SL85 and 47SL85 TVs setup for Linear PCM out of the optical port, so that they can each be connected to a SB316? Or, is there an adapter box available using the HDMI(ACP) of the TV to provide either RCA or LPCM optical connectilbility?”

I did not connect with the optical port. I've had trouble with those ports on other units, so I don't use them. I used the dual male audio patch cord that was included with the speakers, & it works fine. Let's face it, you're putting an expensive connection on a 'middle of the road' speaker bar.
