It works unbelievably. Rather than cool the whole house, when we really only want our bedroom cool at night, this really performs well! My only issue is that you must get use to the white noise. We have sliding glass windows also. If it is standard length, they include an expansion filler, so that it goes the full vertical width of the window. In our case, however, we needed to rig up an extra expansion as our windows are nearly 5 foot wide. Perhaps they make one for a special order.
