It will work in an apartment and needs no venting or exhaust hose. Easy maintenance. It has its own pan that holds water and ice. It evaporates so there's no mess. You might want to keep a towel or paper towels handy just in case of water spills.

I wipe our water reservoir out with a cloth dipped in vinegar to kill bacteria. Once it dries, the vinegar smell goes away. The water drips back down to the water reservoir so there is no need for a drip pan.
