The roku steaming stick plugs into the HDMI port on your tv, and a small ac cord must be plugged into an ac wall outlet as well. The unit has a builtin wireless connection for the internet, not requiring a direct connection. The closer your roku steamer is to your wireless internet modem, the better the signal, and better streaming. My unit is abou 6 ft away, and my siginal is excellent.
