• You do not have to use all 8 cameras. Use only what you need. We started out with 4.

• No, will work with any number of cameras.

• You can connectb1-8 it doesn't have to be all eight.

• Yes you use as many or little as you want. I only have 6 hooked up right now and it works fine.
