    • Answer Thanks for your question. The Doorbell has notches in the back which attach to the metal wall mount, and then you can lock it in place via a small screw in the base of the mount. In the event that your doorbell did get stolen, there is a high chance you would have a recording of the thief saved to the 24 hours of free cloud backup which you get with this doorbell. There is also no incentive for someone to steal a Swann doorbell as it will not work on another account until you remove it from your own one, so the device becomes useless to the thief. For customers that wish to subscribe to our optional Secure+ plans, Swann will also cover the cost of a replacement device if you provide a police report advising it was stolen. -SD, Swann Team.

  • QuestionCan I hardware this into my existing doorbell wiring and use my existing wired chimes? I'm just wanting to keep my doorbell the same but add a camera to it.

    • Answer Hi Todd. No, unfortunately this doorbell model does not have the ability to trigger existing mechanical chimes. You can certainly power it from existing low voltage doorbell wires if you've got them, but it cannot trigger an existing chime. We do however include a battery powered chime instead, and you can connect up to 5 of our chimes to each doorbell.

    • Answer Hi Nicholas. On the back of the doorbell there is a USB-C charging port. If you want to run the doorbell on its internal lithium ion battery you just need to plug it into a standard USB charger to charge the battery. You'll typically have to do this every few months depending on how busy the doorbell is and therefore how fast the battery drains. Alternatively there are terminals on the back of the doorbell which you can connect low voltage doorbell power wires to if you prefer. Many American homes have these wires at the front door already and they can provide a trickle charge to the battery so that you don't need to charge it. Unlike some other better known doorbell brands, Swann do not charge compulsory monthly fees to use our products. With this doorbell you get 1 day of rolling free cloud storage forever plus 32GB of local storage for free. If you want more days cloud storage we offer optional subscriptions via our Secure+ plans, you can learn more on the Swann website. - SD, Swann Team
