• This Swann Security System is just a hard wired set-up, DVR - Cable -Cameras. DVR is your computer here, which saves up all your monitored recordings. However, If you want it as in Mobile Surveillance, then you need IP address set-up and either Computer or your Mobile device as you wish. Final answer, you do not need any computer or such for basic, DVR installation..

• A computer is not necessary, just a tv or monitor. There is a phone app, but only for viewing.
