Yes. It is like this for cooling purposes according to the TiVo marketing literature.

Leaves breathing room for the fan, and Tivo is trying to make a statement versus the boring look of old boxes. They have an elite model coming out 2016 that will be more "stack" friendly. This unit is created to win over new Tivo customers, the elite will be for dedicated previous users looking for the ultimate experience.

I would say it's curved so heat can have additional space to exit on the bottom and also to prevent stacking additional stuff on top which don't allow DVR's to cool properly causing hard drives and electronics to fail prematurely. It forces people to follow the directions NOT to stack or place things on top. :)

Yes it is. It is probably designed that way to help vent (reduce heat).

Yes, it does indeed have a 'curvy' design on the bottom of it so it does appear 'bent'.

Yes it is bent. I don't know why but it's an advantage if you want to set it on top of a tuning adapter or something because the device underneath will get a little air.
