QuestionI live in rural southeast Texas and have internet data limited to 10 G per month. So, the only time I would have a DVR connected to internet would be to register and set up if necessary. Is there a Tivo model (or other DVR) that would work for me?

- Answer This unit will work for you as long as you do not use a streaming service such as Netflix. The amount of data it uses to get the guide is minimal, if you need to know exactly how much data this DVR would use to just get the guide I recommend contacting Tivo prior to purchase.

QuestionWill my mom still be able to get all of the local channels that she currently gets with her Xfinity account

- Answer I am not familiar with Xfinity but she will need an antenna to get the local channels and there is a subscription fee that can be paid monthly or yearly to get the TV guide. We have the subscription and the guide works good for being able to setup recordings. But I think the TiVo can be used without a subscription. If what you watch is local TV then this is a good alternative to paying for cable providing you have an antenna that gets good reception.

- Answer Not the OTA models. They are not for cable use. There are other models made specifically for cable. Check the Tivo website.

- Answer I just purchased both units within the last 4 weeks, and I suspect the answer to your question is NO. The Bolt OTA only records from the RF input connector, it does not work to record from a streaming service from another device.

- Answer That's the only thing you can use. It doesn't work with cable or Satellite. You can also use it for streaming if you hook it to your home network.

- Answer Over the air transmissions at this time are not 4K...FCC approval for the bandwith has to be approved first...Most broadcast stations UHF and VHF are still trying to recoup costs of analog to digital over the air conversion from a few years back...4K costs would be in the millions system wide......1080i is the best you will get over the air until more spectrum is available and approval by the FCC...4 k content for the most part is on the internet and on disk media...

QuestionHave a neighbor, with very slow internet. Can get over the air channels with HD antenna. She just wants to be able to record items, news/daytime TV, when she is not there to watch. Basically wants a updated version of a VCR. Will this meet her needs?

- Answer The Bolt OTA version only works for recording over the air channels. It will not work with cable. You need the other TiVo DVR for cable subscription use.

- Answer If you want to get the program guide you will have to pay a fee. This makes the device usable. I seem to recall a YouTube video that said without the guide it maybe usable after a fashion but difficult. I strongly suggest you - Check the TIVO web site, or call TIVO support, to determine what the fee is and if it can be used without the guide.

Questionit says you can watch on your tv or mobile device. question is, I have TVs in every room. all can connect to my home network. If tivo box is hooked into TV A, is there an app that allows me to watch recorded shows on TVs B, C and D?

- Answer If you do not want the guide, you do not need to pay a monthly fee. You can pay a lifetime fee once, if you need it, or do monthly.
