• Yes it is. I use it for Time Machine backups on my Mac.

• Yes it is compatible with Mac. You may want to reformat it in your Mac's a Disk Utility. You can pick the format that best serves your needs. I typically do this with any Harddrive, rather than relie on their specific software included with the disk
