“Does this phone have the update that fixes the krack wifi vulnerability? I noticed in one of the posts the tracfone rep said that tracfone doesn't support updates. Did the rep only mean major OS updates? or does he/she also mean security updates?”

you May be correct Samsung does however provide updates if you obtain a Samsung account, It is free of charge.
