Tracfone handsets are carrier locked to Tracfone service, or possibly other America Movil subsidiaries[Google "America Movil brands"] . To use the phone in another country you would need a SIM card and service from a carrier in that country. But the phone would require unlocking by Tracfone. Tracfone will unlock a phone upon request only after one year of active service on Tracfone.
