  • QuestionWHAT is this for ?

    Asked by MN.

    • Answer Prevents a remote starter from turning the engine on when the hood is open and your hands maybe somewhere where you wouldn't want the engine to be running. A safety feature.

  • QuestionIs this required for installation of a Pyle backup camera? It was recommended as part of the package.

    Asked by DICKA.

    • Answer My understanding of tilt switch is for only one reason, to keep someone from being hurt if the engine is started by a remote. The vehicle could be out of sight when the remote is used. You can run the engine with the hood up, just can't use remote to start.

  • Questionis this compatible with Viper 1 Car Alarm? does it trip alarm if car is jacked up?

    Asked by M.

    • Answer This is a Tilt Switch. It requires that the switch be tilted a significant amount to activate, to ensure a positive on and off. If it is mounted almost level, small vibrations or even parking the car on a hill, could trip the switch, when unwanted. This is better used for something like, switching lights on and off on car engine hood or trunk lids (which is what I used it for). The are better devices for a car alarm, called Vibration Sensors, a similar size as this switch, but they have a spring and a wire inside the spring. Any shaking motion moves the spring and make momentary contact with the inner wire. So it doesn't sense the angle of the car, but senses sudden/ uneven movements. And they activate only momentarily during a vibration. The Tilt Switch, shown, is intended to turn on and stay on until the switch goes back to the original angle. Then turn off and stay off until the angle is changed again.
