• 3.0 is better in my opinion. I absolutely hate how the dialogue is difficult to hear during action scenes with two channel bars. Plus this model has a port for a subwoofer to added if desired, making it 3.1.

• The 3.0 has a center channel which adds a more vibrant and clear tone clarity. This difference can be heard during talking points in playback.

• In my opinion, the 3.0 is better, for the following reasons: -3.0 has a dedicated center channel for voice. -3.0 has HDMI (Arc) connectivity which does provide better sound than Optical. -3.0 Even though does not come with a Subwoofer, it does have the option to add one later, which is what I did, I bought a Polk 10" Sub from Bestbuy on sale for only $99 and now my bedroom shakes. Hope this helps.
