i don't have a 4k capable cable box and a large majority of streaming services have limited 4k content available so most of what i stream is 1080p. something that isn't really stated or explained is that most (if not all) 4k tv's upscale content. so while the source of what your watching may be 1080p or lower, the tv itself upscales the image/resolution to fill the screen, otherwise 1080p content would look very pixelated and stretched out as 1080p is roughly 1/4 the resolution. this works for game consoles, cable boxes etc. if you have a dvd/blu ray player it may have 4k upscaling built in which will only make it look clearer. i play my nintendo switch on this tv mainly and even though the image is 1080p there is no bluriness or loss of detail due to the tv upscaling the image. upscaling isn't just stretching to fill it basically converts it to 4k resolution which can add detail and sharpness. at the very least it will never look worse than if you watched 1080p content on a 1080p tv.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The display will show the max resolution of the content. If the DVD is being played in 720p the TV will automatically upscale to 4K. If the content was filmed in 480i it will fill the screen but not be as clear as higher resolution content.
