The Cintique is driven by the USB and HDMI/Display Port of the Mac, so it is in effect a display, but with touch screen input from the pen. So yes it would display the image from your application, that is how it works. If you mean to see it working as a second monitor for other purposes, such as when using Premier for editing, I would expect that could be set up in display preferences. Hope this helps. I keep Photoshop open on the Cintiq and have my laptop screen free for email etc. So yes, if I am understanding your question, you could use this as a display / second monitor. You would need to make sure to set it up in your preferences as separate displays and not mirrored. Also, I had to purchase an adapter to plug the Cintiq into my laptop. I assume you will need to do the same thing for your Macbook.
