I purchased this expansion card in hopes to expand my media storage. When I try to add media files and clips to the location it says I need to format it in order to save these types of files. When I proceed to format, it does not allow me to do so. Help. null

expansion cards are for for games, apps, and save data only. I believe external hard drive would work. better to get a normal one like for a computer specifically for media. make sure it can be compatible with xbox. this just basically makes ur core hard drive that came with the xbox when u got it, bigger

Have you tried to do a cold boot so it asks you to format it after startup? Mine asked me immediately after plugging it in while it was on to format it, so if yours isn't you may have to do the cold boot. Otherwise there's an issue with the card or the port
