No, this is a WD 'Green' drive. It is intended for storage. If you are looking for a primary or boot drive, this is not the best choice. It is designed to 'spin down' after a short period of non-use to conserve power. For a boot drive, look to the WD Black or Blue drives.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Actually it is a "green" drive

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. On the retail box that I bought from a Best Buy store, there's a sticker indicating this is a WD Green drive with 64 MB cache.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 3TB Mainstream is a 5400 RPM hard drive (previously Green). Western Digital got rid of the Green label and merged them with the original 7200 RPM (up to 1TB) Blue drives. They explain it on their website.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. This is the "Green" model. It uses less power, spins slower, and goes to sleep frequently. Its intended for occasionally accessed data, not for use as your main drive. HOWEVER, WD does provide tools to disable the sleeping function if you plan on using it frequently. Drives have a limited number of times they can wake before failing. Many tech reviews show that "Green" performance is only slightly behind "Blue" performance - the amount too small to tell without measuring.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. It's a Green Drive. The only place I found the info was on a sticker attached to the front of the box. BTW, the difference is that that 'Blue' Drives spin faster and tend have less latency, while 'Green' drives are designed for quieter operation and larger capacity.
