A:Answer You won't be able to convert your TV to make it "smarter", but you can add a smart device. The easiest is to add a Roku; just make sure it is a model with a USB port. The latest model is the Roku Ultra, and it also does 4K UHD, if you need it. I use a refurbished Roku 3 and it works great and is much cheaper. I actually have one for each of my TV's because the Roku apps are much better than the ones you can get on Samsung, LG or other brands of smart TVs. Early this year, we cut the cord and installed an OTA antenna. In October I added a Tablo DVR and can now watch anything I record on any TV in my house. So, with the Roku, I have access to my entire video collection on a 2TB HD (with just over 900 movies) as well being able to watch shows I have recorded - all whenever I want. Bonus: my wife was a skeptic at first, but now she loves it, too.
