  • QuestionDoes anyone know if you can still download the auto backup software for this drive? The WD site says the WD Backup for Windows software has reached its end of support. I want something that only backs up new or altered files.

  • QuestionI bought this external drive about six months ago and it now makes a tik tik tik sound and cannot be detected. I'm considering hiring specialists to extract the data but t need the model number of the drive itself. How can I open the enclosure to get it?

    • Answer I notice mines makes a clicking sound also. But I only closely paid attention gto this when I was using an USB multi-port and had it connected to this. When using some of these multi-port USBs, although you can hook up to 6 devices into it, it will only allow a few to actually connect at one time. The clicking sound I got was because I had 4 devices hooked to the device so the External hard drive made clicking sounds because it was trying to connect. ..But for your question, First I would try to take it to Geek Squad to see if they can remedy the problem. Maybe there is something wrong with your connection to whatever device you are hooking it up to. But Geek Squad should be able to retrieve the information you seek or maybe even help fix the problem of not connecting. It maybe be something as simple as a Microsoft issues that won't detect the device
