- Answer Only the WD RED PRO drives are base 7200 RPM. The My Book Duo does not use WD RED PRO drives, just WD RED. These drives use WD's "IntelliPower" RPM rating, which is base 5400 but they say can operate in the range of 5400-7200. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2407614,00.asp

- Answer Each drive cannot be both Windows and Mac. It's pre-configured for Raid 0 and will act as one drive.

QuestionDoes the 8TB version come with two 8TB drives? For a total of 16TB? (Ignoring RAID). I'm considering buying this just to remove the drives. Two 8TB drives for 160 a piece would be a good deal.

QuestionCan all media be played directly off the deviceIf I install all my music and movies to this device, can I just plug it to the tv or surround sound system to play either movies or music, or does it still need to be plugged into a computer? If not what device can?
