Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not sure what "virtual machine" means, but we can manipulate and save documents on the drive without having to save them on our devices. I think you have to have the host program on your device to manipulate a document. If not, it can only be viewed. ie... I can view excel files on my iPhone, but cannot update them. I think I can pay for Microsoft programs on my phone, but have not done that yet.
