• Yes, I use mine with Plex. I uave a ton of movies that all of my devices can access anywhere.

• The Hard Drive inside is not normally replaceable. Although it is a normal WD Hard Drive it comes preformatted and as it can be restored with WD software the case is made in a way that very hard to access internally. Much easier and more practical to purchase new rather than upgrade/replace Hard Drive. I have not used plex so I cannot comment on that possibility. Maybe someone else would take over that part of question.

• There is a Plex "Activity" you can enable. Since I don't want to pay $$ every month to stream my own music files from my own hardware, I can't tell you how it works.
