Questionif the device itself breaks somehow, will i loose all the photos stored to it? I've always worried about that happening when using hardrives.

- Answer Hi Floss, Please be informed that My Cloud Home is equipped with a single hard drive. If the device is not working, your data will remain safe on the hard drive. Therefore, we always ask the user to use the device with caution. In My Cloud Home Duo, you get two hard drives that are pre-configured in mirror mode (RAID 1) so that the same data is duplicated on another hard drive which can save your data in case of hard drive failure. QuestionCan i use this on a ship with no internet access and if so how do i set that up?

- Answer Even if you could hook it up, it would only be used locally on the ship. Because to send data anywhere off the ship, you would need a router of some kind.

QuestionIn my old WD Mycloud, I was able to set it up so my Bose SoundTouch can see the device and play my iTune files. With Mycloud Home, I cannot see it. What I do to set it up to Bose SoundTouch can see it?

QuestionCan this thing run 3rd party sync software (syncthing) or do I have to use the proprietary software? And does it run Linux or what? Im happy with syncthing, I mostly just need this for the hardware.

- Answer Yes, but not natively. You can set this up as just a hard drive and run 3rd party products off another computer that uses this hard disk as a network drive. The native software primarily speaks with WD's cloud service.

- Answer Yes you can, but why would you want to do that. The NAS device is quicker and more reliable. You may not want to even use your flash drive at all. I found that out very quickly.

- Answer Yes, It never hurts to have a secondary backup. You will however still need a PC to perform that operation as it is not self automated from the MyCloud.

- Answer No, it does not allow network access. You would need something like a Buffalo storage device.

QuestionWhat size drives are in this device? are there two 4tb or 2 tb drives

- Answer This devise has several iterations. The 4TB MyCloud is one 4TB drive with no RAID capability. They have a dual drive models called MyCloud EX2 that can be configured for RAID use in several varieties. Hope that helps.

QuestionWhat file system does it have? If not NTFS, can it be reformatted for NTSF? The main reason I ask is because I had to return a Buffalo NAS because it would not run Microsoft's Robocopy. Will this support Robocopy?

QuestionDoes the 2021 version of this provide DLNA services for media streaming, if so, how do you turn them on a configure? I do see that it's enabled for Plex. I can't discover any DLNA service on the network; maybe the service needs to be enabled?
