• It is safe as you need MyCloud app to be able to connect from a device to the HDD, and it encrypts connections so you are safe.

• It might, depending on the composition of your safe. If it's the plastic/concrete type fire safe you will probably get a good enough signal for it to work. If your safe is of metal construction you probably won't be able to get a decent signal.
