Hi DavyWavy, The WD My Passport SSD is formatted as a single exFAT partition for compatibility with both Windows and Mac OS can be used with both Windows and Mac OS computers for backup. It is best your WD Easystore to be re-formatted in macOS Extended (Journaled) file format, to be compatible with Time Machine.
