This is a great device as a Video library for your TV. It your TV has a USB Port, you can plug in your WD Portable Hard Drive and access it through the Menu Function on your TV. It will display all the Videos stored on your Hard Drive for playback.

Please try again later.Most TVs don't support this option, but go to your manufacturers website and download the manual for your TV and check the capabilities of the USB port on your TV. Most are read-only, meaning they will show items from the drive on your TV, but they don't support writing things to the drive from the TV. Why wouldn't you just plug this drive into your laptop's USB port?
