• Yep. All USB 3 peripherals are backward compatible with the USB 2 standard.

• Yes. In fact I purchased this as a Christmas gift to a family member with an old laptop that was running Win XP. It works just fine on the old hardware.

• It comes with its own USB cable attached to it, and it simply plugs into your computer. Standard. I have a Toshiba laptop, and it was all good!!! I hope this helped.
