i bought this hard drive upon the recommendation of a Geek Squad guy when my new computer seemed to have crashed and I wanted to transfer some documents from my old computer to my new one in addition to having a backup for my current computer. I bought this external hard drive and it was very easy to use and was compatible with both my older and new computer. I was able to do these tasks intuitively. It is compact and unobstrusive. I have not had any problems with it.

"Its not a questions of if your hard drive will live forever, its only a question of when it will crash" .. Please everyone get an external hard drive like this and back up your family photos, music and documents. Your history is worth the $75. Store it AWAY from the original computer. (think small safety deposit box or trusted family members house) .. KEEP at least 2 copies of all your important computer files .. Virus, Crash, Mechanical failure, or accidents all can destroy years worth of irreplasable photos and videos .. This is a good choice ..

The tech at Geek Squad recommend this storage device for me. Loved it. Great price point and compact. Perfect for storing picture and backing up my computer.

Its an attractive unit. not bulky. Easy to use. Essential product; whether its the Passport or another brand. This gives me peace of mind. I dont know what coukd compromise its reliability.....besides the likely obvious mishandling, temp extremes exposure, etc. This is a good amt of atorage potential so can last me quite awhile.

WD Passport is small and compact, easy to use, holds lots of data

Although I haven't used the included software, it's easy to use and very transportable. It plugs and plays with Windows without any problems. I can use it across different operating systems to view files and pictures, play music files, and being solid state, is less likely to fail. Just toss it in your pocket and go. I should have bought one sooner.

I have several Passport External Drives, all have done the job and lasted. Bought this one when my computer crashed. Had Geek Squad back up data they could retrieve onto this external hard drive. I purchased this particular one out of necessity, but I have had a positive experience with this brand and the price point at the time was good.

I like the size, storage capacity and at a reasonable price.

We had to take my laptop in for repairs and needed something to back up our files, especially all of our photos. It was easy to use and with practically endless storage, I'm sure it will serve our needs for years to come.

This is my 2nd external hard drive. I have the "big-brother" for this one, but wanted a smaller one to transport to and from other locations without fear of any damage. This has plenty of room and works great. Plug and play, no need to read anything.

Originally met with Geek Squad in store to purchase on-line back up software capability but they had major problems in their store that day trying to hook up to the internet. After about 45 minutes of constant trying, the clerk recommend I just purchase a remote WD My Passport Ultra auto and cloud back-up premium storage 500 gb connection kit. He dropped the price a few dollars to be equal to the on-line cloud capability I had originally purchased during that same visit (but they were unable to load due to their in-store internet disconnect). All in all it turned out to be a good solution although I ended up waiting in the store for well over an hour to address the issue I went in for. He did a nice job explaining everything.

Purchased this drive when it was on sale. Planned to use it to back up some important work files. It was easy to set up and use right out of the box, and it still works like a dream.

I needed a portable unit that offered a continuous backup option, not just a scheduled time/date backup. This unit does it for me. Set it up and forget it. It's an attractive design, quiet and reliable. It does exactly what I want and need it to do, and I can easily change the backup options if I choose to. I've always found WD products to be reliable and with a fair price point compared to similar products. I'm quite happy with my purchase.

This is the easiest possible back-up device to use and was recommended by a Geek Squad Tech member. It is reliable and takes away any worries about losing valuable documents.

This is the second one if these I purchased. I use one for my business and the other for my personal use. It is so easy to use and I will never use all of the GB. Love them.

I love technology and can't be without it.... until I was. I have a MacBook Pro and EVERYTHING I do is in there. I thought I had saved all of my files in the cloud. I had changed my password and then for the life of me could't remember it and wouldn't you know it, I had to have a reset done.... so needless to say, I lost a lot of files that wasn't in the cloud. So while I was there, my "Geek" Tech told me about this wonderful external hard drive. I must say I now back up once a week to my iCloud and external drive. Take it from me, you don't want to be caught without it and learn the hard way like me.....

I needed a backup hard drive to use with backup software and this 500GB drive was just the ticket. Quiet, easy to set up and dependable.

Western digital makes decent enough hard drives, so when I needed to reload windows on my computer, I wanted something to back up my important files, music and pictures. For me, the 500gb was plenty of space and the unit was marked at a decent price. It performs very well and is easy to set up and use. I would defiantely recommend this product.

I got this device when my SeaGate hard drive of 7 or so years failed and I needed to not only retrieve the data and photos stored, but replace. Geek Squad was able to access my old information and transfer it to this new device. It was a very fast process. It does not require an extra power cord or plug, it is powered by its USB connection to one's computer. It is small and convenient. I can easily access data, change what I need to---add or delete or edit and feel very confident about this device.

the drive was easy to set up and has enough capacity to hold what I had on three larger capacity thumb drives and is portable between a number of computers
