Main problem I had setting it up with a drive map is that Windows doesn't enable SMB protocols by default anymore due to major security problems, which this device likes to use. I'd say without a little technical knowledge you will have those instant regrets ( I did ) but as it is a linux powered box quick to resolve. My mac can connect, but you will have to play with volumes, and be careful of the mac volume options . you m ay more than likely have to choose between exFAT and FAT32 volume format and that I have not done on this drive..many others yes. You may want to look into a more robust network accessible storage unit that WD sells such as the home model rather than this one.
