A:Answer You can get nice cable internet that comes in through a cable like your antenna, but it connects to your wifi equipment (modem, router, etc). I have it through Spectrum, for instance. No landline. There is also non-cable internet through AT&T, etc that doesn't require phone service, but availability is poor here.
I get about a dozen over the air channels with just an antenna. That doesn't take internet at all.
I do like Roku for free TV/movies, too (including lots of channels via PlutoTV) but Roku does require internet.
Roku also lets you have access to a multitude of apps like Hulu, Netflix, Weather, ESPN, etc on TVs like this. It acts as a home screen where you can download apps. Subscriptions are still required for most, but it's a cheap way to add the programs to a budget smart TV.
