It is smudge proof whoever told you know is incorrect but it’s a little bit more complicated than that basically it’s about the cleaner that you use if you use a stainless steel cleaner correctly It will in fact clean the smudges but I am not aware of any product that you can put on it that will make it smudge proof if you find something like that let me know because that’s a great product to come up with
