• Not necessarily. We bought an open box washer & dryer and it had no scratch or dents. It was just returned by previous customer because it was too large for her space. They had no box but had all instruction & storage plastic wrapped it for us.

• Usually open box refers to "as is" condition regardless of dents dings scratches etc.
