“If you have a 4k tv with bluetooth, can you utilize the bluetooth function of this receiver? I am curious because my current connections must go through the receiver using an hdmi connection. This setup would eliminate the smart tv function for sound.”

You would be far better off getting an optical cable. Even if this would work (unlikely), it would require lots of remote control configuration every time you turned on the TV.
