Q: QuestionCan i connect a subwoofer that uses only speaker wire?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No. You have to use a powered subwoofer. In fact I don't know of any home theater receivers that offer support for in-powered subwoofers. Some of the "Surround Sound in a Box" systems may offer that, but they are just cheap alternatives to a true home theater set-up.

Q: QuestionSplit 4k signal from cable box?Can you split with an hdmi splitter from a cable box and send one signal to this receiver and another to a 4k television? I have a feeling both signals will downsize to 1080p. The tv from the receiver is a 1080p set.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer You are correct that it will be a 1080 signal either way, and yes, you can buy a splitter and send one to the TV, and one to the receiver. But, chances are that you will run into issues with the video and sound not syncing up. I'm not sure why you would want to split the signal at all. It does not give you any benefit, and just adds more signal degradation to the system, because most splitters use very cheap components. BUT, if your cable box is putting out a 4K signal, which would be rare, since the only places offering 4K content are a few subscription services, the receiver will pass that through as a 4K signal, not a downgraded 1080 signal.

Q: QuestionAudio troubleIs anybody else having trouble getting the sound to come through the receiver when using the smart TV apps like Netflix, YouTube etc? Even though I did hook up the optical audio wire also and still nothing. Not transmitting any sound.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Make sure that you have "Audio1" selected on the receiver. I know the input on the back says "TV" but that's not correct. Also, make sure that the TV has the volume all the way up. Might also try unplugging/plugging the cables to make sure they are solidly connected. Hope you get your sound!

Q: QuestionDoes this unit offer On-Screen controls? Like volume, Blu-Ray inputs, etc?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes, it does, to an extent. The volume shows up in the lower right corner, and the input selected shows up in the upper right screen for a few seconds. But if you are using the remote, you can see the buttons you press, so I a, not sure why you want an on screen controller. It also supports apps for phones and tablets, which work very well, and may be closer to what you want.

Q: Questionno A-B switch how do you turn on outside speakers only?
Asked by Cliffy.
- A:Answer There are no A-B speaker connections at all. They have moved to all wireless support, which means you need a second device with an amp for the speakers, and a way to receive wifi, Bluetooth, or Musiccast (such as Sonos systems).
