Yes, this receiver supports HDR. To enable support for HDR, you have to do the following, which is not documented online or in the owner's manual, and which I had to find out by contacting Yamaha's support team: "There is a setting in the advanced setup menu of the receiver, 4K mode. The default is Mode 2. It should be set to Mode 1 for HDR. To access this setting, power the receiver off. On the front panel of the receiver press and hold the STRAIGHT button, then press the POWER button on the front panel once, and then release the STRAIGHT button. Press the left PROGRAM button on the front panel of the receiver to select 4K Mode. Toggle the STRIAGHT button to select Mode 1 and then power the receiver off." I asked the Yamaha agent why it's set to Mode 2 by default, and he replied "Mode 2 is more stable for a wider amount of HDMI cables. However, Mode 1 is what allows for HDR."
