“I have a 8k q900 tv. Can I use this reciever with it and will it affect the quality of the picture if I'm running my cable box through it.”

This receiver can 'pass through' 4k video information only. If you want 8k, you'll have to go from cable box straight to tv with hdmi. I dont think there's any 8k content available yet anyway (6/2020).
