Yes, you can hook up both the 7.1 inside and two speakers outside. The system will automatically shut off two of your 7.1 system when you use the two outdoor speakers. So depending on which those speakers are presence or rear, your surround system won't have them during the use of your outdoor speakers. I do not find this to be an issue as I am not usually playing music outdoors when playing a surround movie indoors.

You would require a smaller amplifier to do the 2 speakers outside and use the Zone 2 pre-out from the receiver. If you are wanting a receiver to do that, I would recommend look into the Yamaha RX-A2060. If a receiver says 9.2 on it then you can usually do a 7.1 with a zone 2. Hope this helps!
