It took awhile for Slipknot to come out with another album since Paul's death (RIP Paul), and the unknown reason for firing Joey(?), but it was worth the wait. Even with the collaboration with the two new "unknown" members it feels like a Slipknot album should. Heavy with emotion, and in your face guitar riffs, it's worth picking up a copy.

I've enjoyed a few Slipknot songs & never was a huge fan, until this album!! This is a MUST HAVE even if you don't want the bonus tracks!! Heavy yet melodic, even fast and furious at times. I'm glad I bought it!!

    A modern metal masterpiece

With everything that the band has been through in the six years since their last studio effort, "All Hope Is Gone", it's quite the miracle that the album exists in the first place. Although the band is still reeling over bassist Paul Gray's 2010 death, evident on songs such as "XIX", "Goodbye", and "Skeptic", they don't let the feeling of remorse cover the entire record. Songs such as "Sarcastrophe", "Custer", and "The Negative One" show the band's darker, heavier side, and would feel right at home on Iowa or the band's eponymous debut. After being absent on previous recordings, vocalist Corey Taylor's hateful scream is back and on full display. On the other side of the coin, tracks such as "AOV" (Approaching Original Violence"), "The Devil In I", and "Nomadic" show the band's more melodic side, similar to the sound of All Hope Is Gone. Meanwhile, the band continues to experiment with new sounds, such as the industrial drum loop of "Killpop", the somewhat poetic "If Rain Is What You Want", and the dark "The One Who Kills The Least". The album's creepy atmosphere is furthered by the song intro "Be Prepared For Hell", after which their subsequent tour is named. In the end, the album makes it evident that the band is here to stay, and bent on world domination. As stated in the song "Lech", "NINE FOR SURE"

    Second Time Buying

I bought the original Sample cd that was only available at Best Buy for $1.99 when it was first released. I then prepared for the concert by ordering the mp3 online from Amazon. After having a computer crash, I lost the mp3 files, but I used the $2 coupon in the Best Buy Sample to come and buy the CD again. Corey is on top his game with alternating through his styles of singing, and the band sounds as raw as ever. The tribute song to Paul, the F-you songs to society, great music all around.

An awesome album by Slipknot, in honor of the late Paul Grey. Old skool, and newer music alike...this album rocks. Songs to check out: XIX - yes, it's an intro...but one of the best Celtic sounding ones I've ever heard. Devil in I - one of the main singles Custer - Like the original album? THen this is your favorite song on here. THe Negative One - second single.

I'm glad they made it back after losing Paul (R.I.P.) and firing Joey but honestly their replacements are excellent. Great live show. Definitely buy the deluxe, great bonus tracks. I prefer "Iowa" and "Subliminal" albums. I rank this third for me in their discography.

Very solid release. If your a fan you won't be disappointed. Still has the heavy drums, riffs you would come to know. Corey still has some melodic periods in some of the tracks. Grab this CD if your having a problem getting off your couch and to the gym!

Slipknot has gone through many music styles but all revolving around their original metal feel and this album goes back to the start of it all. With tracks similar to Iowa what true Slipknot fan wouldn't like this? Definitely a must buy for the truest of fans who've been with them since the beginning.

Slipknot has come along way since their self-titled debut modifying and honing their style and sound to stay relevant and not get stale by making music just to be hits but staying true and independent to the style they have now perfected

The new members do not disappoint; overall, the album is great. I was a little concerned about the drums before I listened to this, given the fact that Joey was so good but the new drummer certainly lives up to my expectations.
