    They sell you a huge amount of support but later on when we actually needed the repairs, they really drop the ball, on purpose it seems. First you realize their “__” years warranty is counting the first year, but they don’t actually warranty the device. They leave it up to the original manufacturer warranty. So that was deception to me, borderline fraud. Why tell me we bought 4 year warranty then defer the entire first year to the manufacturer. That’s a 3 year warranty you are offering, I already paid for that first year. So deceptive! Good gracious. Gimmick gimmicky goo. Then, told me policies changed and things are different now, so I have to wait 2 weeks for repairs. Then it’s still broke. Then they offer store credit less, but no refund on the tax and less the cost of the warranty. And no store credit for 30 days, so have to go without the appliance for a month. So get ready to eat about 30% of your investment on their changed policies.(we are eating over $160 on this warranty bamboozle) So watch them on their fine print. BB has become quite the gimmick in the last two years. Their warranty is worst in the market imo. Other box stores don’t gimmick you for about the same cost, and offer more perks. This warranty and their gimmicky “free install” has sent me back to other box store for all future appliance purchases.

    It says after your manufacturer warranty ends…..anywhere else when u purchase a protection plan it begins when the manufacturer warranty ends. Its like getting ripped off for the first year as they will just refer u to the manufacturer for a warranty claim. Once the manufacturer denies the claim then tbey will tell u to file a claim with Best Buy. By the time the thing finally gets fixed you’ve gone for weeks if not more without the appliance. You think they will extend the warranty 2-3 weeks past the time you couldnt use your appliance? They most certainly will not. They tell u everything u need to hear to sell u the warranty and when u file a warranty claim they do everything they can to get out of it. Same as insurance companies most of these corporations leaders should be jailed but they simply “lobby” aka bribe the politicians so they get away with it everyday. This nation was once a great place to call home before the greedy corporations owmed and ran everything including Washington. These days this nation is nothing but a disgrace. Ill be discussing with my wife about canceling our membership and the stores credit card. Im certain she will agree then I will advocate for all my friends and family to do the same. There isnt a single corporation doing business that actually cares about the customers. Its just the opposite their main goal is to screw over as many people as they possibly can. What can we do as consumers? Go to their competitors? Doesn’t matter its all owned by the same group of people. This one owms that one which owns these other ones that owns those over there. Thats why they dont care if they loose u as a customer and go to another business cuz u are still their customer u just dont know it!!!

    I purchased an LG microwave on July 11, 2023, with a 4-year protection plan. On Aug 25, 2025, it had an opening issue, and the door jammed. Geek Squad agent, without even looking at it, flatly said Yes, it's covered, but we will have to ship it, and it could take 2 months or more to get it all fixed. So they basically wanted me to wait for 2 plus months, and the microwave is one of those appliances I use every day. After this terrible experience, I would recommend not purchasing the Geek Squad warranty. While purchasing this microwave, they were pushing the warranty on me and said no matter what happens, it's covered, Best Buy will try to fix it, if not, I`ll be provided with the new one or the option to buy another model if that particular model wasn`t available. Look elsewhere or make sure you get everything in writing. Two months to fix a jammed microwave door? That`s really unheard of.

    Extremely disappointed in the 4 year protection plan. I purchased a microwave and was told the 4 year plan was a full replacement plan, so I bought it. That turned out not to be true. The microwave lasted 33 days before it completely stopped heating. Instead of a replacement they sent it out for repair (2-3 weeks). If it costs too much to fix, they said they’d give me a store credit for the purchase price. And if I choose to buy a new one, I’d have to purchase a new protection plan. I’ll also lose the $70 off for the sale price if it’s not still on sale. So if it can’t be fixed, my “4 year protection plan” will have lasted 33 days, it will have cost me $110, and I won’t even have a microwave, just a store credit that doesn’t include what I paid for the protection plan. The protection plan is definitely not worth it, especially if the product only lasts a few weeks.

    Geek Squad billing screw up causes time loss.

    I will never get Geek Squad protection again! I got the Geek Squad plan when I bought a microwave. I returned the microwave and received a refund. However, when the store gave me the refund they said that they could not give me a refund for the Geek Squad plan, because "you have to call Geek Squad to get a refund for that." The Assistant Store Manager was close by, and he confirmed that "that's the way it is in the system" and he could not do anything about it. I called Geek Squad the same day and eventually talked to a rep who said that I would get a refund for the plan in 7 to 10 days. It's been over a month, and no refund. Today I spent 45 minutes on a second call to Geek Squad Billing & Cancellations Dept. The rep said that she forwarded my request to another office and I "should" get a refund in 7-10 business days. So if you buy something with a Geek Squad plan, and return the item look out! You are dealing with two separate parts of the company that have apparently not integrated their computer systems. To get all of your money back you will have to spend a couple hours on the phone. Or, like many people who are pressed for time, just give up and contribute to Best Buy's profits while getting nothing for it.

    If I could give zero stars, I would. This was by far the worst customer service experience I’ve had. They were completely unwilling to accommodate and consistently deflected instead of offering any real explanation. When I asked where their policy states that a GE countertop microwave qualifies as a small appliance, they couldn’t provide an answer. Meanwhile, GE’s own website clarifies that these microwaves are not considered small appliances. Which makes sense since they weigh nearly 50 pounds. Rather than addressing the issue, the representative (Edwin) simply dismissed my concerns by saying I was “frustrated” and hanging up on me. I do not recommend Best Buy or Geek Squad to anyone.

    I should have read the one-star reviews. I have owned this microwave for just under a year and have been very gentle with it (no damage or mishandling), and I can confirm what a few others have said about the microwave turning on and running by itself. I left for work yesterday morning and hadn't used it at all that day or even touched it, it was off. I came home 12 hours later and it was on/running by itself. Luckily my microwave plate cover wasnt inside like it usually is. I have no idea how long it was on or running for. Display read 0:00. But who knows what could have happened - maybe if I didn't come home in time, it could have caught fire. No idea. But it wouldn't turn off using the buttons either, I had to finally unplug it from the wall to get it to stop. I would not risk getting this microwave!

    Geek squad warranty policy is customer repellent

    We spent thousands remodeling appliances through Best Buy, and hundreds on extended warranty. The warranty ended up being much worse than past experiences with competitors for basically the same cost. I wish you could just have a simple transaction with this store, instead of tracking and points and member discounts and prices that change and policies that change. It all makes for a horrible appliance buying experience with Best Buy

    I purchased this protection plan for a small portable AC that I bought. Turns out the store can't do anything to help me, and the only option is to ship it somewhere else and hope they fix it and ship it back safely. The employees I talked to said that would take about a month. Best Buy is not offering a replacement during that time. One Geek Squad employee recommended I just buy a new one if I didn't want to go a month without AC in the summer. I only found out they could not service my appliance in-store after I took it to the store with me, and then I drove it back home.

    The GE counter top microwave 1.1 cubic was a total piece of junk. It sounded like a jet plane taking off and when i cooked 3 potatoes the door stuck then finally opened and made a bang and clank. Not sure what happened with the making of this microwave as i had had one before and it was great.

    DO NOT purchase from Best Buy - Horrible customer service. If you want to speak to someone at the store, you must go there in person. They do not take calls at the store. We purchased a microwave that died after just 2 1/2 years. Thankfully we had the extended warranty. However, when I went into the store, I was told by the person that looked up my account that they would replace the microwave. When my husband returned it the next day, he was told they would have to fix it. You cannot call and talk to anyone at the store. You must physically be there to get told different things.

    Microwave or Paper Weight?

    I had to Return this product 2 times cause it came in with large dents and it wasn't just the side panel it was the frame. AKA major damage. The third shipment was not great, as it did have some dents. In the front near the control panel and on the bottom the frame was warped a bit. Decided to keep it as I was tired of retuning it over and over again. But now I am paying for it, it started tripping the breaker about every 3-5 time I start it. Some days are better than others. I called in and reported it and they said the exchange dept would be contacting me. Haven't heard anything and I have been answering all the calls, mostly telemarketing calls. Common Guys I really want to like you, don't ruin this.

    Numbers 7, 8, & 9 have failed on convection microw

    Here we are 13 months after purchase & the number panel has lost function for numbers 7, 8, & 9 on the microwave. Needless to say my elderly mom is frustrated, but I told her I bought the geek squad 4 year extended warranty so I am expecting Best Buy to replace this appliance. Problem is there is no Best Buy near their home so we will have to drive with it to a city with a Best Buy I suppose.

    I have been trying for over a year to get not 1 but 2 TV's fixed, that I paid for the extended warranty on. But due to Covid, they claim that they can't come to your home to fix the big TV and the stores were closed for me to take the 39 inside. So, exactly. Wth did I pay for ? I have 2 TV's sitting in the boxes STILL waiting to be fixed.

    The warranty serves no purpose. I bought a warranty being told I could wait 4-6 weeks just to get a microwave replaced/ repaired when being told originally I could come in and replace the item in store if it didn’t work.

    Geek Squad Installation was Delayed

    The delivery was made with NO information of how I was to get the Geek service that I ordered. I called and they gave me an installation date for 2 weeks. Actually, it took about 3 weeks between delivery of the microwave oven and Geek Squad arrival. Their arrival was delayed twice. The oven was great, but the Geek Squad service was horrible.

    Absolutely horrible online purchase. This was supposed to be the top tier used product in excellent condition. When I received it it was filthy dirty there was a dent on the back. The item has been discontinued so I could not exchange it for another one and had to return it.

    This microwave started humming and smoking less than 4 months from purchase date. Geek squad was no help. They just said to contact whirlpool. There is no point in buying the $49.99 geek squad service on a microwave.
