These powerline adapters kept dropping the link between my PC and modem. I couldnt ever get them to just stay connected and tried resetting/lyncing them about a dozen times. I finally just returned them and got some nether powerline adapters which words the first time and without fail. I won't be using Actiontec again.

Way Better than Rewiring My Whole Place

Love this little gizmo! I live in an apartment and my cable company stuck the modem/router combo all the way on the other side of the place. I could barely receive the signal on the other side near the bedroom. I plugged it into my router using CAT6 cable and plugged it into an open power outlet near the router. You MUST make sure the transmitter is NOT plugged into a surge protector. You will have a bad time if you do. I then plugged the receiver at the other end of the house and connected my smart tv, bluray player, network printer, and desk top up using CAT6 cable. I ran a speed test and the normal speed (around 60mb/s) only dropped to 54mb/s. Very happy result! Keep in mind that the outlets that the transmitter and receiver are on must be on the same circuit breaker box in your home. You will have a bad time if you don't. As an aside, I used CAT6 cable vs CAT5 or 5e because I wanted to make sure any slow down that may occur would be the fault of using super cheap ethernet wires.

I bought this action tech to help me improve my wifi from my house to my garage so I could use my ipad in my house and garage. The distance to garage is less than 100 feet. I was told by the geek squad that two units would work. They did not work.

After doing a lot of research on powerline adapter products, I chose this one almost by default because this is the only one my local Best Buy had in stock. With that said, I could not be more pleased with my purchase.
Setup took literally 2 minutes to complete and it was seamless. I plugged the main adapter into the socket, ethernet cable from cable modem to wireless router to the Actiontec adapter. I put the 4 port adapter in the living room which is approximately 100 feet away from the main adapter and I hooked up my SmartTV, Xbox One, PS4 and 3D Bluray player. The adapters synced up perfectly and without issue.
The best part was the speed enhancement over wifi. My PS4 was pinging at 3.5mbps and with this product, it is pinging at 37mbps. Crazy!! Not to mention my wifi setup is still functioning as it was before without any additional setup needed.
Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

The nature of powerline Ethernet is the problem here. It requires an open line between the modules, with no filtering, because it modulates the 60Hz carrier in the power line. This means no surge protection for these devices, which in turn leaves them vulnerable to any small fluctuation on the line. One nearby lightning strike, and they're toast.

In theory this is a nice concept, just plug into any electrical socket and create an instant ethernet connection. However, it is not that easy. This would probably work OK if the connections all ran through the same circuit. Distant connections and noisy electrical power will cause the connection to drop. I tried it and ended up returning the system.

Exchanged it once because we thought product was defective.
Found out product is far to touchy & delicate and just isn't worth the money. Finally returned it & decided to go with an apple router. I'd always rather spend a bit more for a good solid product that works.

The product worked intermittently but not enough to serve its purpose. Also, the documentation was no help at all and there is NOTHING on this product on the manufacturers website.

Bought this to game online. Easy to set up as you just plug one end to the router and plug to a power outlet and put the other powerline in another power outlet where you want the connection and Wa-lah! Internet through the electricity. The four port ethernet port hub is a huge plus as I can connect to multiple game systems to it. I get my full speed without the headache of wires across the floor. Never had an issue with this product. Good bye lengthy ethernet cable! Hello Powerline!

I'm more than a novice at networking stuff, and figured this would be much harder/difficult than the "get started" sheet that comes with the item depicted.
Literally - all I did was exactly the steps in the order indicated with very simple instructions and pictures - and it worked perfect - and has been for several days now. It solved my problem of getting wired ethernet to the second floor of my home without wiring my house!

Anyone looking for an alternative to poor wireless connection? Whether you stream movies to your blu-ray player or you're a die-hard gamer, this connection to the 110V hardwire WILL NOT LAG and let you down at the critical point of your game or climax of the movie you are viewing. This adapter does what it says! You simply PLUG AND PLAY!!!! Why buy long and expensive network cables when your house has solid copper cables inside the walls that can transfer data just the same? I was looking at running a 75' CAT 6 network cable from the router to the living room and realized that technology upgrades (ie. faster routers and network cables, etc) would just improve every year. The solid copper wires inside your walls are a standard for current. And now you can use the FULL DATA TRANSFER SPEED of your router connection through the copper wires to the adapter. The only limit is the CAT 6 ethernet cable connected to your devices, but that short cable can be upgraded when necessary - your speed is limited by your router and ISP. (You must set up your connection with the devices to recognize your network, but that is EASY when you follow the instructions found in the OWNER'S MANUAL of your electronic devices.)
